Project
Sugar / Kno3 cast engine
Construction
- These rockets borrowed their design from Flight 05 in 2000. A 3" cellular ABS pipe acted as the rocket body and a 2" CPVC engine was fitted inside. Fins were attached to a fin section aft of the nozzle section to provide stability. A smoke charge and ejection charge was added to the forward section of the engine. The nosecone was made from gauze impregnated with plaster. Fuel used in these rockets was sugar / Kno3 cast in a 65 / 35 ratio.
Pros
- Good rocket body design for video equipment later.
Cons
- 65 / 35 fuel ratio is too powerful for the current engine design.
- Heavy design.
