Project
Sugar / Kno3 cast engine.
Construction
- Both of these engines contained a 65 / 35 fuel ratio mixture of sugar and Kno3. The nozzle retaining rings and end cap retaining rings were constructed out of 2" PVC pipe with 3/4" holes drilled in them. They were then inserted into 2" PVC couplings. The holes in the pipe allowed the Pourstone to create retaining "pins" when the nozzle was cast.
Pros
- No machine screws were needed to construct the nozzle assembly.
Cons
- Labor intensive construction.
- 65 / 35 fuel ratio mixtures are too powerful for the current engine design.
