Project
Incendio engine.
Construction
- This rocket used a cylindrical fin design instead of traditional fins. Four Incendio engines were hung in the rocket body with the assistance of two 1/4-20 threaded rods. I believe it was this arrangement that caused the failure of the rocket. All of the engines cracked where the rods were inserted through the top of the casing and it was probably this stress that caused the end caps to blow out. The smoke charge and ejection charge did work as designed, only after the rocket crashed.
Pros
- The rocket was big enough to hold a video payload yet was able to be transported in two pieces so a truck was not necessary.
- There is plenty of power.
- The rocket is inexpensive and easy to build.
- All engines lit. The ignition system works.
Cons
- I still have doubts about the stability of the cylindrical fin design.
- The system that secures the engines in the rocket body needs work.
