Project
Incendio engine.
Construction
- In this experiment, I tested a rupture disc in the throat of the nozzle. The point of the experiment was to see if the engine could come up to pressure, blow the disc and then operate normally. The disc was made from .003" brass shim stock and was installed between the convergent section and the divergent section of the nozzle.
Pros
- If it worked properly, it would help the engine to make more efficient use of the energy contained in the fuel.
- It would seal the engine until use, increasing the shelf life of the engine.
Cons
- Pressure built up too quickly and the engine failed.
