Project
Incendio static test.
Construction
- This static test of an Incendio engine was meant to test the structural integrity of the end cap design. Due to the failure of this engine end cap, a plan to reinforce it was necessary. Two 1/4-20 x 1 bolts were assembled with a 1/4-20 x 3/4 coupling nut in between them. The bolt assembly was then added to the inside of the end cap before it was poured. This reinforcing assembly worked well in future tests.
Pros
- The Incendio engine is easy to construct and inexpensive.
Cons
- Higher pressures in the combustion chamber have caused many failures of the end cap during the commissioning of this engine.
